The Great Escape Room

The Great Escape Room is in downtown Akron. It has various different escape rooms and is a great experience

Reservations

This place only goes by reservation. You need to sign up in advanced and list how many people will be coming. You also choose what room you’d like to do. For the rooms you need to sign waiver and agree not to forcibly break anything.

The prices are kind of high in my opinion. It is $30 per person. Compared to other escape rooms it is similar in prices, however, I think it is a little pricey. The tend to always have deals going on during holidays or special occasions. They also sometimes offer groupons as well.

The Rooms

They offer several different escape rooms. Each of them have different themes and different difficulties. You can choose from a scavenger type rooms or traditional escape rooms.

You get one hour to escape your room. The person in charge of the room is in there with you. They offer you 3 items used as clues and will tell you when you are close or not to something.

Getting to the actual facility is a little difficult as you go upstairs in a building and follow signs to get to the right doorway. The actual place is nice and all of the rooms are completely seperated

I had a great experience when going and would recommend checking it out if you are interested in doing an escape room.

Water Works

Water works is located in Cuyahoga Falls and is sort of like a mini water park. They have different activities and water slides to enjoy many seats available.

Prices

Water Works goes by a full day pass that you are stamped so you can go in or out.

If you are a resident in Cuyahoga Falls it will only cost you $7, however, if you aren’t it cost $15 mon-fri and $17 sat-sun.

The Pool

Water Works has a huge pool that takes up most the the facility.

There are several different areas of the pool. There is a shallow kids area which is separated from the deep end. There is also a section for two water slide to go down.

Other activities

Besides the main pool they also have other things.

They have a pretty decent sized lazy river that goes in a big circle. You can float on inter tubes or float around yourself.

They also have a sand area where you can lay out by the sand. Chairs are spread out in the sun and shade. You can also rent a pavilion as well.

Concessions and Lockers

Along with entry, they also have a locker room where you can keep your items and food.

If you do not bring your own food in, they do have a little store for food. They have snacks, ice cream, and drinks that you can use cash or card at.

If you are looking for a pool to lay out by all day and don’t have one yourself, I think this is a good place to go.

Swings-N-Things

Swings-N- Things is located in Olmsted Township. It consist of rides, games, and many more attractions.

Attractions

Swings-N-Things has many different rides and activities.

Prices are pretty reasonable. They have certain passes you can chose from that range around $25. You can also buy individual passes for a certain ride or activity.

Rides wise they have things like swings, bumper cars, bumper boats, the scrambler, and a mini coaster.

Other attractions include go karts, rock wall climbing, and mini golf.

Other Activities

Besides paying for ride passes, you can enjoy other activities not included.

Swings-N-Things has several batting cages that range from different speeds. $1 will get you one batting token. Each token has 13 pitches included.

Bowling is also offered there. It is $4 for a 10 frame game.

They also have paintball. Prices range depending on how many people are involved and how many cases of paintballs you would like.

Swings-N-Things even has a mini arcade as well as a concession hut.

Swings-N-Things is pretty reasonably priced for unlimited passes and they tend to have groupons often. It definitely is worth checking out for the day if you are looking for something to do during the summer.

Wagon Trails Animal Park

Something fun to do this summer if you are an animal lover is definitely Wagon Trails Animal Park located in Vienna, Ohio.

Wagon Trail

The wagon trail is an adventure where you are on a wagon and taken through a safari like scene.

As you are taken through the safari, they tour guide will stop you at different areas to feed the animals. Each guest is given a bucket of food for the animals. You hold onto the bucket outside of the wagon and animals practically eat from your hands.

Certain animals you will see are things such as zebras, ostriches, camels, and donkeys.

It is a really cool experience to have animals you would see at the zoo come so close to you and you get to have interactions with them.

The wagon trails animal park is open May through October. The rates run different depending on if you are involved in a group. If you have a group over thirty people rates are $11, but general admission runs $16.95 which, in my opinion, is a fair price.

Other Activities

In the Fall, the Wagon Trails Animal Park has even more activities.

They offer things such as hay rides and apple tosses.

One thing that is really interesting about this place is that they have a petting zoo too. You can pet animals such as goats and have great photo opportunities.

I think the prices are pretty fair and it is a unique experience that is a lot of fun for the day.

Boston Mills

Although we are approaching summer, winter always seems to come too fast and people tend to stay indoors as less things are going on. Boston Mills is a great place to visit in the winter and offers many activities and events,

Skiing and Snow boarding

I do think it is slightly expensive to do, but super fun!

Snow boarding and skiing can be bought for aa season pass or for a daily pass for $44 before 3:30pm and $39 after. They also charge for any rentals for shoes, boards, and helmets. You can either get the complete package for $32 or pay $10 for helmet or pole rentals.

They have 4 trails. Two easier ones and two more difficult ones. They also have a few areas for slow zones and freestyle areas.

Boston Mills also has a few lifts running at all times to take you up and down the hills.

Snow Tubing

For those, like me, who are not that do not have much experience with snow boarding or skiing, Boston Mills offers snow tubing instead.

They have a certain area just for snow tubing with several lanes and its own lift. A three hour pass starts at $25, which to me is a fair price. Anytime after 8pm until 12am is $25 as well. If you plan on doing this all day $59, but for $10 more you can get a season pass.

The only thing about the snow tubing is that there is only certain times where it is available. It really only is open Saturday and Sunday. Occasionally, tubing is open late night on Friday.

Events and Classes

They do not offer too many events at Boston Mills. Occasionally they will have an art festival and even have certain nights with music and food.

Classes and group are something more popular at Boston Mills. They offer everything from beginner classes to expert classes and teach you how to execute snowboarding and skiing. Then you can enter certain group with others to enjoy your sport and the level you are at.

Shop

Boston Mills has a great hang out spot by the hill as well.

You can hang out and enjoy warm drinks and food at their lodge.

They also have a retail shop. There you can buy supplies for snowboarding and skiing. You can also find souvenir type items.

Kalahari

Kalahari is located in Sandusky, Ohio and is one of four locations. It is a waterpark resort that you can enjoy a weekend spending the night there or go there just for the day. It has many activities and events as well as many shops.

Image-1Water park

Kalahari is known for its water park and one of America’s largest. It honestly is a little pricey, but it is super fun.

They have many waterslides that will keep you busy and they also have different wave pools as well as lazy rivers. They also offer a hot tub that is only for teens and adults that goes indoors and out. Another popular attraction is the surfing.

Kalahari has huge locker rooms to keep your things in while at the park and plenty of seating.

Other Activities

Arcade

Along with the waterpark, Kalahari has a huge arcade to enjoy while you’re not at the park.

The arcade is quite a decent size and has many games that are pretty popular. I would compare there arcade to a Chuck E Cheese. They have stations where you can load cards and swipe them to play games. You can even just get an unlimited pass where you can play all the games that don’t give out tickets for a certain amount of time.

Included in the arcade is a mini bowling alley. It only has a few small lanes, but for $6.00 it’s not bad.

The arcade has a pretty big prize station as well.

Escape room

Newer to Kalahari is there escape rooms.

They offer two different escape rooms, both of which are alien/intergalactic themed. You have to pre-book the rooms, but they offer times around every 30 minutes. They allow up to eight people to be involved in the room as well.

7-D theater and virtual reality

Kalahari offers an interesting experience with a 7-D theater and virtual reality.

The 7-D theater is almost like an interactive 3-D movie. You are strapped in to experience realistic action such as a 3-D movie with movement, feeling, smell, and being able to interact with it.

For virtual reality the offer several games to play. You put on a headset to be put inside the game and are able to play almost like you are there in it.

Mini golf and laser tag

Another fun and cheap activity to do is mini golf and laser tag.

Mini golf runs $6.00 for a 24 hole course. It seems to be a themed glow in the dark course.

Laser tag runs $8.00 for a 7 minute long game.

Shopping and Dining

Kalahari has a lot of little stores and food places throughout the resort.

Dining wise they have several more formal sit down places to eat. They are a bit pricey, but they are pretty nice.

They mainly have little cafes and candy shops. The cafes sells pretty basic things that could be comparable to a school cafeteria or at the zoo. They do, however, have interesting candy shops selling things like chocolate, ice cream, and cotton candy.

Other shops consists of souvenir shops or swimwear.

An interesting they do have is several spa and massage palaces to visit if you were interested in relaxing after having an activity filled day.

At the end of the day, I do feel like an all day pass is a little expensive for the park, but if you look at all the activities and how much you can enjoy yourself and do in a day I think it’s worth it.

Mohican State Park

Mohican State Park is well known for it’s beautiful scenery, hiking trails, and its water trail. They also host many events and hiking programs that make for an adventurous day trip.

Hiking Trails

Mohican offers various hiking trails for all different kinds of adventures. Whether you are looking to go on a more dangerous, and more steep hike with having to cross water or if you just want to go on a quick and easy walk, they have lots to offer.

One thing to note is that most trails are unmarked. This gets confusing without maps and can lead to possibly being lost for a while.

Water Trails

Along with Mohican’s amazing hiking trails, Mohican offers great things to do along their water trail.

They have rapid waters that goes into a trail throughout the park and offer many options as to go down the river.

It is well known for its canoeing and kayaking rentals down the river. They also offer inter tube rentals.

Along the trail there are many stops and things to see. Besides looking at the amazing scenery, you can stop at deeper parts for a swim break. There are also picnic benches spread throughout an occasional rope swing to go off.

Besides the hiking trails and water trail, Mohican hosts many events at their park as well.

First they host many hiking groups. They offer groups such as bird watchers and different level of hike that people can participate in .

They also hosts many festivals such as arts and crafts and the bluegrass festivals. One of their most popular is their annual Pow-Wow which is three days of enjoying Indian ceremonies, dancing, and stories. There are also many vendors and activities.

If you are looking for something fun to do for a day trip this summer and love to be outdoors, I would definitely suggest checking it out.

West Side Market

West Side Market is located in Cleveland and is home to hundreds of vendors. These vendors sell anything from produce to unusual foods from across the world. This market is a very popular spot and has vendors you will only see here.

Design Of The Market

The market has some outdoor vendors in covered rows and majority are inside. The two rows cover two sides of the building with entrances inside all around.

The inside portion is more crowded. They have several rows of square booths filled with vendors. There can be up to four vendors in a square in each corner.

The rows are set up almost like a street. They have signs similar to street signs to know where you area and what booths are there

Vendors

There is a variety of different vendors at the market. They have things such as:

– Baked goods

– Meat counters

– Restaurants

And more

They offer a variety of different cultural food options and unique items you don’t typically see. They also have vendors that have been featured on popular food network TV shows.

Upstairs View

The market has an upstairs as well. The upstairs is a big balcony overlooking the whole market. The upstairs is mainly used for seating and a place to eat, because the ground floor is covered with vendors.

It is really cool to look at the whole market in a birds eye view.

Overall, is definitely somewhere you need to visit to see as there is so much to do in Cleveland and the market is a popular spot that has so much to see.

Szalay’s

Szalay’s farmers market is a great place to go to in the fall. From the fresh produce and food stands, to the corn mazes and spinning barn.

Location

Szalay’s is located in Peninsula Ohio near Cuyahoga valley.

What is great about Szalay’s is that it is right next to the towpath which is a long path that runs through the valley. This makes it a popular stopping point if enjoying the trail by biking or hiking.

Food

Szalay’s is a farmers market style so they have their own fresh produce and are well known for their corn they grow there. They also make their own juices which are fresh.

On weekends Szalay’s has their food stands open. They sell:

-Their corn roasted and buttered

-Different types of burgers and hotdogs

One thing to note about this is that they do only accept cash, however, they do have a ATM there.

Activities

In the fall, Szalay’s has activities to do in their last month which is October.

First, they will usually have musically entertainment. They have many seating options and you can relax, eat, and listen to some music.

They also have two activities for only $6. One thing the have is the spinning barn. You walk through a barn and over a bridge that is spinning that makes you feel like you are moving. They also have a giant corn maze. They have a different design every year and it is a lot of fun.

Overall, Szalay’s is a great hang out spot and is definitely worth stopping by.
